An undocumented story
Comic Zine
This comic is the result of a long conversation with Happy who was so generous to share his personal experiences about coming to live and work in Austria many years ago.
He talked about the obstacles finding work and being confronted with systemic racism. The story creation process ocurred in close contact with Happy to ensure a realistic depiction of his experiences.
Working without papers, but not without rights!
10 years of UNDOK
From working hours to minimum wage to sick leave: anyone who works in Austria has rights as an employee. These apply to all people, regardless of their origin and residence status. Undocumented migrant workers are therefore also entitled to social insurance and minimum standards under labor law.Since 2014, the UNDOK drop-in center has been supporting and counseling undocumented migrant workers, who often experience extreme exploitation. Today, as then, the UNDOK claim is: Working without papers, but not without rights! To mark its 10th anniversary, the UNDOK drop-in center presents a comic exhibition at the house of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) in Vienna’s 2nd district. The exhibition brings together contributions from various artists who address the topic of undocumented work in the form of illustrations, comics and graphics for UNDOK.
